Lattner rugged Scotch Marine Boilers are manufactured in accordance with ASME Section IV for 15 PSI steam or hot water and Section I for high pressure steam ( over 15 PSI ). All vessels are National Board registered and design for maximum life, thicker tube sheet, and 2 1/4 dia. tubes. The submerged corrugated furnace has extra "mud room" space below and greater water distance above for maximum safety.

With Lattner two pass design, the hot gasses travel through the tubes with lower velocity at a uniform temperature. High efficiency turbulators are utilized to scrub the inner tube surfaces and improve the gas film coefficient. This results in high overall efficiency, less temperature difference on the rear tube sheet, less thermal stress, fewer baffles, and less short circuiting of flue gasses.

With Lattner three pass design, the hot gasses travel 50% further through a reduced cross section of fire tube area at higher velocity and furnace pressure. All temperature differences and expansion are absorbed by the corrugated furnace, weld seals for the second pass, and and extra heavy rear tube sheet. Overall efficiency is optimized by the extra distance the gasses travel and is confirmed by exceedingly low discharge stack exhaust temperatures.

Boilers 70 HP and up include a 15 inch diameter furnace inspection door and multiple 3" X 4" handholes located above and below the waterline.

Two inches thick, 8lbs. per cu. ft. mineral fiber insulation minimizes heat loss and is protected with 22 gauge galvanized steel jacket, finished with heat resistant enamel.

Hot waterboilers have a dip tube outlet and a directed high velocity return for improved internal circulation and heat transfer.

Vessel, burner controls, and gas train are packaged on a heavy structural steel skid. Lifting eyes provide for easy hoisting and placement.
